When you’re here
Local events
Summer is the island’s busy season, so there’s usually something on — music in the square, a festival, or the kids’ disco in the park. A few worth watching for.
In and around Jelsa
Kids’ mini disco
A little open-air disco for the children in Jelsa Park, run by the local Carnival Association. An easy, joyful way to fill an evening.
Live music in town
Some nights there’s live music down by the harbour and square. Parents time the bigger family dinners around it.
Jelsa Wine Festival
The town’s big celebration of local wine, food and music on the waterfront — a proper Jelsa summer highlight.
Fishermen’s Nights
Waterfront evenings of grilled fish, wine and music — relaxed, local, and very family-friendly.
Lavender in bloom
Not an event so much as a season — Hvar’s lavender fields come into colour and scent in midsummer. Worth a drive inland to see.
Elsewhere on the island
Stari Grad Summer Festival
Concerts, theatre and cultural evenings through the summer in the old town, about 15 minutes away.
Hvar Summer Festival
Classical and contemporary performances, many in the historic Arsenal, over in Hvar Town.
Dates shift every year. Treat these as “what tends to be on” rather than a fixed calendar — confirm exact dates locally once you’re there (the tourist office and posters around the square are your best bet).
